The 13 Best Games That Run Without A Graphics Card

The 13 Best Games That Run Without A Graphics Card

Wondering if it’s possible to run some games on a toaster? If you have a processor, then it is possible to run many games, even without owning a graphics card.

The 13 best games that run without a Graphics Card:

  • Minecraft
  • GTA 5
  • League of Legends
  • The Elder Scrolls III : Morrowind
  • Among Us
  • Far Cry 5
  • CS:GO
  • Darkest Dungeon
  • Fortnite
  • Forza Horizon 4
  • Dota 2
  • Age of Empires  2& 3
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider

Of course, many games with aging graphics (usually released before 2013) can run on any PC. This list includes recent games, which do not need a graphics card to run.

Minecraft

It’s probably one of the most obvious games on the list, and it’s also the most played game in the world. Designed to run on very low configurations, Minecraft owes its success in part to this characteristic.

In addition, the game is much more fun in a group, which will allow your less well-equipped friends to follow you on your adventure!

GTA 5

Rockstar’s Pearl is renowned for being one of the hardest games to optimize for even the strongest setups. However, the game can run on very modest PCs, although you will have to make concessions on the graphics.

If you’ve never played the game, and have some cash to spare, GTA 5 is undoubtedly one of the best games of the last 10 years.

League of Legends

Riot’s infamous MOBA is one of the most popular games in the world, and has been dominating the esports scene for over 10 years now. The reason for its success? It does not require a large configuration to run.

Best of all, you won’t even need a graphics card to enter Summoner’s Rift. If you’re not too heavy-handed about video settings, you’ll even enjoy a satisfying gaming experience!

The Elder Scrolls III : Morrowind

This one is above all a favorite, since it is, without a doubt, part of my Top 10 of the best games of all time. Being a big RPG fan, I’m always surprised to come across this game released in 2002!

20 years later, we can see that Morrowind was way ahead of its time. If you like RPGs, you have to give it a chance!

Among Us

InnerSloth’s game has been talked about a lot in 2020, especially during the pandemic which has forced people to stay at home. Very friendly, the game is very simple to understand, and can be enjoyed by casual players.

At the start of the game, the game designates imposters. The goal of the other players is to identify them, while the imposters must kill them. Positive ? The game does not require a graphics card.

Far Cry 5

Are you skeptical about the ability of a PC without a graphics card to run Far Cry 5? You are wrong ! However, the game will not run on a PC that does not have at least 4 GB of ram and a processor with 2 cores.

Going further, let’s say that having a graphics chipset on the processor will greatly help you enjoy a pleasant experience.

CS:GO

Valve’s famous game does not require a graphics card. Indeed, the game is designed with a view to using CPU resources to function.

There is also no need for an incredible CPU, since the game only uses 4 cores at most.

If you like FPS, and you have a PC without a graphics card, CS:GO is free in addition to being optimized.

Darkest Dungeon

Darkest Dungeon is a rogue-like that was a hit in 2015. Designed by an independent development studio, the game offers impressive immersion.

In addition, the level of difficulty is also raised, and some dungeons will require you to try many times before being completed. The icing on the cake, the game does not require any particular configuration to run.

Fortnite

The only battle-royale on our list, Fortnite does not require a graphics card per se. However, and especially on the endgames, the game can start to suffer if you don’t have an integrated chipset on your processor.

You will therefore not have access to an incredible gaming experience, but you will still be able to play more or less correctly.

Forza Horizon 4

The famous car game is one of my main (good) surprises, since having a graphics card is not mandatory to run it.

Again, the game will be much less visually beautiful, but it is still very well optimized. If you like recent car games, know that this is the only one that can run on a small configuration.

Dota 2

Like many online games, Dota 2 is optimized to run on as many configurations as possible. By setting the graphics to minimum, you will be able to play the game with an average of 30-35 FPS. Enough to learn the game.

Age of Empires 2 & 3

Probably the most popular strategy franchise in the world, Age of Empires is timeless. The proof, you can still have fun playing the second opus, released in 1999, without a graphics card.

For the 3rd component, you will need a graphics chipset integrated into your processor. But even with a weak configuration, you should be able to run the game without problems.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Last game on our list, Rise of the Tomb Raider is a highly CPU dependent game. Indeed, it is the latter that does the calculations, while the GPU is supposed to make the adjustments.

To play, you will therefore need a chipset integrated into your processor (even if it is part of an older generation). A good solo game, to discover without a graphics card!
